1992 Honda Accord 2.0 EX

The glorious CB… In my opinion, the best Accord generation ever made. It’s pure essence of everything Honda – engine begging to hit the redline, gocart-esque direct and responsive handling and beautiful body lines, matched with simply lovely interior.

CB3 was the first Honda I ever owned. In fact, it was my first legally owned vehicle since I passed driving test at age of 18. My first Mk4 was in Phantom Grey Pearl, but other than different colour (this one is Buckingham Blue Pearl), this saloon is exactly the same version. Powered by single-cam, non-VTEC F20A5 engine, with 133HP in lightweight chassis sat on low and perfectly tuned double-wishbone suspension, this thing is an absolute blast to drive.

But I didn’t even drove the car yet when I first fell in love with it. It was literally love at first sight 😀 Just look at these beautiful chassis lines… The frontend sitting pretty much on a knee height, sleek wraparound headlights, bumper mounted indicators… And then the door opens to reveal the most comfortable Honda interior I ever experienced. It doesn’t strike as such at first, and sure, there are things to improve. But those seats (front and back) are FAN-TAS-TIC. There are no extravagant details; simplicity is the key, but matched with decent quality finish, it’s really a nice place to sit in.

This is my third CB Accord. What are the plans? Well, at the moment, the car is being restored (full body welding and respray), and it’s a long process, because there were big chunks of chassis missing completely… But it’s halfway done. After that, my plan is to keep it relatively clean, OEM-ish looking, with some subtle changes – lower suspension, different wheels etc. Originally I was planning to boost this 2.0 motor, but in the end, I’m gonna keep it N/A – I want to retain the character and growl that made me become Honda fanboy all those years ago…
